It can be seen that fossil energy is very important for human beings. However, there is a place with 3.5 billion tons of oil in the Karakum desert, but no one can get close to that place, let alone go to exploit the oil there. Why? 

Karakum desert is an area with very bad environment and climate. Its temperature difference between day and night can reach 60-70 ℃. There is a huge pit in Karakum desert. The width of the pit is about 70 meters. There is always fire burning in the pit, so people call this pit the gate of hell. If someone accidentally falls into this pit, he will turn into a mass of ashes in an instant.

Why is there a fire in this pit? This needs to be explained by the origin of the pit. This pit was dug by experts from the former Soviet Union when they were surveying for oil. Later, there was a landslide here, which formed the huge pit now. At that time, experts thought that there would be toxic gas released from the pit, which would cause damage to the lives of the surrounding residents, so they threw a torch into the pit to burn all the gas in the pit. But what they didn't expect was that there was a lot of natural gas under the pit, which was constantly released from the ground, resulting in the fire in the pit could not be extinguished. At present, the flame in the pit has been burning for more than 40 years.

It is precisely because the flame in the pit can not be extinguished all the time, resulting in high temperature in the pit, and the tools used for oil exploitation, such as cast steel valve, can not bear the high temperature in the pit, so the oil here has been unable to be exploited.
