Why Should Keep Valves and Pipelines Warm?

Why Should Keep Stainless Steel Valves and Pipelines Warm?

With the gradual reduction of fossil energy and the gradual serious environmental pollution, energy conservation has attracted more and more attention. In the factory, not only large equipment needs to be treated with energy conservation, but even a stainless steel valve needs to be treated with heat preservation to achieve the function of energy conservation.  How to make the stainless steel valve have good thermal insulation performance has become an important problem in front of people. It is calculated that a high temperature stainless steel valve that is completely exposed to the air loses the equivalent of the heat emitted by burning a ton of fuel oil every year. The stainless steel valves can be seen everywhere in the world, and the number of the stainless steel valves is very large, so the thermal insulation performance of the stainless steel valves directly affects the safety of the device and heat loss and other important issues.

In petrochemical industry, stainless steel valve is a common equipment. When conveying crude oil by pipeline, the operator must heat the crude oil to a certain temperature, so as to avoid the low temperature of the crude oil and make the viscosity increases sharply, which increases the resistance of pipeline transportation and is not conducive to transportation. Therefore, it is necessary to heat the crude oil before conveying it, and in order to reduce the loss of heat in the stainless steel valve and pipeline, it is also necessary to conduct heat preservation and insulation treatment for pipelines and stainless steel valves transporting crude oil.

When conveying ore pulp and coal pulp, in order to prevent the pulp from freezing caused by too low temperature, it is necessary to conduct heat preservation for the conveying pipeline, if necessary, the pipelines need to be heated. For all kinds of pipelines crossing rivers, in order to prevent the pipeline from freezing inside due to excessive downtime, the pipeline should be insulated.

The natural gas should not contain moisture, and the inner part of its transmission pipeline should not contain moisture, so the pipeline needs to be insulated. For some pipes used to transport cold media, such as refrigeration pipes and indoor groundwater pipes, the outer walls should be free of moisture and they should also be insulated.

For some heating equipment, such as crude oil heating furnace, to prevent the high temperature of its surface from causing damage to the operator, it should also be insulated so that its surface temperature will not exceed 60℃. This protects both operators and saves fuel consumption.

The cost of insulation layer is proportional to its thickness, and the heat loss of insulation layer with large thickness is small. Therefore, the thickness of the insulation layer of the pipe depends on the medium in the pipe and the environment in which the pipe is located. The common insulation method is to wrap the stainless steel valve and pipe with insulation cotton or insulation blanket, and then wrap the pipe with rope. Mineral cotton, glass fiber cotton, ceramic cotton and other materials can be used as insulation cotton. An aluminum protective layer can be added to the outside of the insulation cotton to improve the insulation effect.
