Where Would Stainless Steel Valves Be Used?

Stainless steel valves are widely used and have huge market potential. This article briefly introduces the application market analysis of stainless steel valves.

What are the valves?

Valves are piping accessories used to open and close the pipeline, control the flow direction, adjust and control the parameters (temperature, pressure, and flow) of the conveying medium. According to its function, it can be divided into shut-off valve, check valve, regulating valve and so on. The valve is a control component in the pipeline fluid conveying system. It is used to change the cross-section of the passage and the direction of medium flow. It has the functions of diversion, cut-off, adjustment, throttling, check, shunting, or pressure relief. Valves for fluid control, from the simplest globe valve to a variety of valves used in extremely complex automatic control systems.

There are many varieties and specifications. The nominal diameter of the valve ranges from extremely small instrument valves to industrial pipeline valves with a diameter of 10m. The valve can be used to control the flow of various types of fluids such as water, steam, oil, gas, mud, various corrosive media, liquid metals and radioactive fluids. The working pressure of the valve can be ultra high pressure from 0.0013MPa to 1000MPa, working temperature from ultra-low temperature of -269 ℃ to high temperature of 1430 ℃.

Stainless steel valves are a classification of valves. Stainless steel valves are widely used in chemical, petrochemical, petroleum, papermaking, mining, power, liquefied gas, food, pharmaceutical, water supply and drainage, municipal, supporting machinery and equipment, electronics industry, urban construction and other fields.

Application industry of stainless steel valve

Stainless steel valves have been used in industrial applications due to their long service life, resistance to rust, and environmental protection. They have become valve products that must be purchased in the pipeline industry in various industries, but domestic valve manufacturers that can meet international standards are not popular. Therefore, before purchasing stainless steel valves, customers must ask the merchants to provide various stainless steel valve production and factory certifications. They can also be tested with a spectrometer. The spectrometer is widely used due to its high accuracy and wide range of use. It is used in precious metals and stainless steel valves. The application in the field of detection has also developed rapidly in recent years. Some 304 and 316L valves mainly rely on this equipment for testing, which can reduce the purchase of unqualified products.

Stainless steel valves are usually used in places where the working medium is corrosive, such as chemical products, corrosive media, food, pharmaceuticals, oils, liquid metals, and radioactive media. In any of these areas, valve materials are resistant to working medium corrosion. Capabilities are relatively limited and affected by many factors. If the processing and heat treatment processes used in the manufacturing process are appropriate, the corrosion resistance of this material is guaranteed. As for the concentrated nitric acid medium with a concentration of> 98%, no matter what kind of heat treatment process is used, this steel does not have corrosion resistance. Therefore, when selecting valve materials such as ball valves, gate valves, globe valves, and check valves according to the nature of the working medium, it is necessary to study the influence of various factors such as the concentration of the medium, the temperature, and the heat treatment process of the material on the corrosion resistance in order to select better steel materials such as 316L, 904 or titanium valves.

With the continuous development of technology and scale of the petrochemical industry, the requirements for petrochemical stainless steel valves are getting higher and higher. In addition to continuing to improve the quality of conventional valves such as J41W stainless steel globe valves, Z41W stainless steel gate valves, etc., the demand for Q41F stainless steel ball valves for corrosive materials is increasing, such as ethylene crackers, polyethylene devices and polypropylene in ethylene production Plant, PTA plant (refined terephthalic acid), polyester plant and polyester spinning plant in chemical fiber production. Therefore, we must strive to develop corrosion-resistant technology. 316L stainless steel valves have excellent features such as corrosion resistance, high strength, light weight, and long service life.

The society is increasing in the industry, and the number of industries that can use stainless steel valve products is also increasing. New industries and new products will also slowly replace cast iron valves. This brings new opportunities for the stainless steel valve industry. The market has a bright future.
