During the use of forged steel valves, the operator should know some precautions to prevent damage to forged steel valves. 

Amount of Grease in The Valve

If the amount of grease is not enough, the sealing surface of the valve will be worn faster because of the lack of grease. And if the amount of grease is too much, the grease will be wasted. The operator should accurately calculate the sealing capacity of different valves according to the type of valve. The sealing capacity can be calculated by valve size and category, and then appropriate amount of grease can be added to the valve.

Pressure of Valves

When the grease is added to the valve, the pressure of the valve changes. If the pressure is too low, it will cause the failure of valve seal. If the pressure is too high, the valve will be blocked. When the pressure is too low, the injected grease will flow into the bottom of the valve cavity, which generally appears on small valves. When the pressure is too high, the sealing grease in the valve may harden to block the valve, at this time the operators need to use cleaning liquid to soften the failed sealing grease, and then inject new grease.

Switch of Valves

During the maintenance of the ball valve, its switch is generally turned on, and its switch will be turned off only in special circumstances. When the forged steel valve is maintained, its switch must be closed so that the grease can flow into the sealing groove along the sealing ring. If the switch of the valve is open, the grease falls directly into the runner or valve cavity, which will waste the grease. When adding grease to the valve, the operator often ignores the lubricating effect. To ensure that the grease works best, the valve's switch must sometimes be opened and sometimes closed. The operator shall check the lubrication effect to confirm that the valve ball or gate surface is evenly lubricated.

Make Sure the Valve is Not Blocked before Adding Grease

The gas and moisture in the valve will produce higher pressure due to the increase of the temperature, so before adding grease, remove the stains in the valve to facilitate the addition of grease. After adding grease, the air and moisture in the sealing cavity will flow out of the valve. This can reduce the pressure in the valve in time to prevent valve damage to the operator.

Forged Steel Valves Have Different Requirements for Different Medium

Because diesel oil and gasoline have different characteristics, if the medium in the forged steel valve is gasoline, it is necessary to replenish grease in time to prevent the valve from being worn out. At this point, it is also necessary to add grease to the valve stem and valve shaft to reduce the friction resistance during operation. If these parts are not lubricated, they will be severely worn during operation. In addition, when operating the valve manually, the operator needs more effort to turn the parts.
