How did He Help Others to Repair Valves During Social Distancing?

On January 24, the city was sealed. As an employee of Huangshi Company, 48-year-old Peng Yijun volunteered to stay on duty. During the day, he took the initiative to undertake the work of repairing the leakage and disinfection and so on. At night, he still carried all the field service.

Tuanchengshan Business Hall is the business hall with the largest number of resident users of Huangshi Company, serving 105 communities. After the outbreak of the epidemic, there are confirmed patients and suspected patients appeared in multiple districts. If repairing is needed in the field service, it must be carried out in home of residents, which is extremely dangerous.

At 18:00 on February 15t, Peng Yijun received the request of repairs, where there were confirmed patients in this community. After putting on protective clothing, masks and goggles and rubber gloves, he went to the community. The car was stopped at the entrance of the community, and the car was not allowed to enter. Hence, he had to get out of the car and walked with his umbrella.

After inspection, Peng Yijun found that there was serious leakage of gases in the pipeline, and he quickly closed the valve. To reduce another person, he decided to get the tools in the car on his own.  After about 40 minutes, the leakage was finally repaired.

The real challenge is to enter the buildings with confirmed patients. Facing with the possibility of being infected at any time, Peng Yijun comforted himself: "It's okay to get through it, and some people have been there. Finally, they all returned safely”. Then, he put on protective clothing, masks, goggles and two pairs of gloves and entered the community like a warrior.

Of course, it is not enough to have courage and he had also to be careful. When he walks to the unit building, he would press the elevator with his fingers wearing gloves and toilet paper. If there is someone in the elevator, he must wait for the next trip. What is more, when he goes to the house of user, he must keep a safe distance in advance, because some users will open the door without wearing the mask. After the maintenance, he must first discard the protective clothing, masks, and then disinfect the goggles, work clothes, shoes and hands, and then he would put on new protective clothing, masks. In this battle with invisible enemies, Peng Yijun turned himself into an expert in epidemic prevention.

Actually, "expert in epidemic prevention" is very afraid of death from his childhood. His sister told him that when he was a child, he was afraid to eat an extra bowl of rice if there was a coffin in his grandmother's house. "I'm most afraid of dead people. I don't know where to meet them and I don't know why I am so timid as well." Peng Yijun said.

However, what is unexpected is that he completed the field service nearly 200 times during the one month on duty. Averagely, he needs to repair the valves and so on of the gas pipelines in houses 6 times a day, which means he has to face the risk of infection 6 times a day.
