"We work in shifts of 20 days and there is no signal of cell phone. As a result, the connection with families and friends will be lost as soon as we go onto the platform. We can only use the satellite phone to contact with the people inland in the most urgent time. What is more, we can only call up to 5 minutes at a time. When we feel homesick, we can just shout at the sea." Li Xuxiong said.

Time goes by, and when Shi Guang came to Jinzhou 9-3 platform in 2019, it is finally covered with signals of 4G network. Therefore, he could video chat with his girlfriend every night. The gymnasium and billiard hall configured after 2014 have enriched the leisure life at sea for these working on the platform. There is less sorrow and more tenderness in the stories of the three generations working for the industry of offshore oil recovery gradually.

What really changes the fate of people on the Jinzhou 9-3 platform is the technological innovation. Back to 1990s, at that time, the level of technical intelligence was not high, and automatic operations as opening and closing valves which is extremely simple could be realized. As for data recording and valve adjustment, manual work was required. "Li Xuxiong said.

So, the workers kept working in the temperature of minus 20 degrees Celsius in winter, and it took an hour to copy the data of device and parameter. "The work intensity is very high, and it can only depend on manpower to overcoming these difficulties." Li Xuxiong said.

The in-depth integration of big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, equipment and technologies for development of deep-sea resource vigorously promotes the realization of intelligentization, safety and environmental protection of development of deep-sea resource.

Technicians keep exploring and working step by step from the initial stage to make the technology more and more mature and advanced. Technological innovations have continuously and strongly helped the oil recovery.

Up to now, only one person should stay on duty in the center of intelligent control system and automatic transmission, automatic analysis of data can be realized. In addition, the valve such as cast steel valves, forged steel valves can also be opened and closed automatically and the remote equipment for  monitoring greatly reduces the work intensity as well.
