How to Install the Water Meters?

The water meters are used to record the consumption of tap water, which can be used in many fields in daily life.

Due to the different principles and structures of water meters, there are various types of water meters on the market. The installation of water meters described below is mainly for the installation of the mechanical water meters.

Choose the Right Type of Water Meter

To maintain the perfect stability and durability of water meter under common flow of water, it should meet the requirement of design in water meter.

If there is a margin in the capacity of flow in the water pipes, the diameters of the water meters should be smaller than these of the pipes when selecting the water meters. Due to the insufficient flow, a water meter with a diameter of 150mm can be installed for the pipes with a diameter of 200mm. When the water flow in the pipe with a diameter of 200mm increases, the water meter with the same diameter can be replaced.

Companies with huge consumption of water can choose the water meters of bigger diameters when using a water meter, or they can use several water meters of smaller diameters in parallel.

Choose the Right Location

(1) It should be installed outside the building in order to facilitate future maintenance of the water meter.

(2) Try to avoid places that are prone to pollution and corrosion of water meters, such as garbage stations, and the water meter is best to be more than 2 meters away from these places.

(3) It should not be installed in the place where it is easy to be hit by the vehicles, or where it is easily affected by strong vibration and so on.

Installation of Water Meters

1. Short pipes should be set before and after the water meter, and the diameter of the pipe before the water meter should be 10 times larger than the the diameter of the water meter, and the diameter of the pipe behind the water meter should be 5 times larger than the diameter of the water meter. In any cases, the diameter of the pipe before the water meter should be at least 5 times larger than the diameter of the water meter, and the diameter of the pipe after the water meter is at least 3 times larger than that of the water meter. The purpose is to ensure the accuracy of measurement of the water meter.

2. The water meter must be kept level and it cannot be tilted because any tilt will cause the decrease in the sensitivity of the water meter. Furthermore, the installation direction of the water meter should be consistent with the flow direction.

2. After the front valve of the meter is installed, the valve should be flushed with water, and the water meter should be installed after the water is completely drained. The purpose of the cleaning is to prevent excessive water from being generated during the construction, blocking the filter of the water meter and affecting the accuracy in the measurement of the water meter.
